Options for donation naming setup
I need to set up two naming conventions for C&P donations; one for recurring donations and one for one-time gifts. Both need the name of the Salesforce campaign embedded in the name. Is this possible? In the system I see “Transaction Campaign” in the Transaction Details section (which I assume is the Connect Campaign). I also see the “Connect Campaign” option in the Connect Details section, which again must be the Connect Campaign.
Finally, in the Item Details section I see the "Item Campaign" option which I think may be the Salesforce campaign. Is that correct? Is it the Salesforce campaign name? I am going to test that theory out, but it would be helpful to know what is what. To that end, it would be helpful if C&P included info in the interface to explain what the various merge options are.
Thanks for any clarifications.

Hello Carl Paulsen
Yes, this is possible, and here’s a clear breakdown to help you set up the naming conventions correctly:
Campaign merge fields:
-
Transaction Campaign
This refers to the CONNECT Campaign associated with the transaction, not the Salesforce Campaign. However, this works based on the Campaign Default Settings and Transaction Campaign Mapping. -
CONNECT Campaign (under CONNECT Details)
This also represents the CONNECT Campaign name. -
Item Campaign (under Item Details)
This is the Salesforce Campaign that the Opportunity is mapped to. When selected, it will merge the Salesforce Campaign name into the Opportunity name.
Setting up different naming conventions:
You can configure two separate Opportunity naming rules in Customize Name of Opportunity:
- One rule for Recurring Donations
- One rule for One-Time Donations
Use conditions (for example, Based on Recurring Installment or SKU-based logic) and place the Recurring rule above the One-Time rule, since the logic follows “Exit after first match.”
Within each rule, you can include the Item Campaign merge field so the Salesforce Campaign name is embedded in the Opportunity name.
Hope that explains. If you’d like, we can review your configuration once it’s set up.

Thank you, that's helpful. It seems to be working now.
