Credit Cards
Credit card options are standard.
Bank Transfer
In addition to Credit Card payments, your Patrons have the option to donate to you from their bank account.
NACHA (National Automated Clearing House Association) implemented the Web Debit Account Validation Rule which requires Account Validation for online transactions being processed from a bank account. Using an OAuth connection, Bank Transfer will have the donor select their bank from a list and login to their bank account to complete the transaction. This process reduces fraud risk to zero.
Following is the flow your Patrons will see for Bank Transfer.
Bank Transfer has a radio button next to Credit Cards under Payment Details.
LINK
If Google Pay or Apple Pay is not available, there is an option on the page to use LINK, a credit card payment from Stripe that works like a wallet.
When "Pay with Link" is clicked, patrons will be able to sign up or log in to Link to process the payment.
Apple Pay
Why doesn’t Apple Pay show as a payment option?
There are multiple conditions that must be satisfied to display Apple Pay as a payment method.
- A patron needs to have a valid credit card saved to their Apple Wallet.
- Apple Pay only shows on Safari, a web browser developed by Apple. Safari needs to be an updated version.
- When using Safari, Apple Pay needs to be connected.
- Apple has a Cross Origin Opener Policy (COOP). How does this impact you? Essentially it means that Apple Pay will not show as a payment method on embedded forms. If you use a Direct Link or QR Code for your payment forms, Apple Pay is available provided all the conditions listed above are met. If you choose to embed the form on your website (i.e.., Iframe, overlay), Apple Pay will not show.
Google Pay
Why doesn’t Google Pay show as a payment option?
There are multiple conditions that must be satisfied to display Google Pay as a payment method.
- A patron needs to have a valid credit card saved to Google Pay.
- Google Pay only shows on Chrome, a web browser developed by Google. The Chrome browser needs to be an updated version.
- When using Chrome Google Pay needs to be connected.
PayPal and Venmo
PayPal & Venmo – Payout Process
When PayPal or Venmo are selected, the transaction will be processed by PayPal or Venmo. You will need to login to your PayPal or Venmo account to see the transaction fees for the transactions. To transfer funds from your PayPal/Venmo account to your bank account consult PayPal/Venmo.
In your Click & Pledge account, you will be able to see the transactions and run reports for PayPal or Venmo at Launcher > Transactions & Reports.
To view transactions processed via PayPal/Venmo, at Launcher > Transactions & Reports > Transactions select PayPal for the Method. You will see all PayPal transactions.
To run a report for PayPal transactions, go to Launcher > Transactions & Reports > Reports. You may create a custom report or use a system report. Click the "ADD FILTER" button. Set the filter to Payment Method > Equal > PayPal. Run query and download the report.
Add PayPal and Vemno
1. To add PayPal and Venmo, navigate to Payment Methods, find PayPal/Venmo and click "Click to Setup." [Launcher icon > Settings > Payment Methods > Click to Setup]. Click for Navigation Instructions .
2. You will be asked if you want to add PayPal and Venmo, click YES button if you wish to add.
3. You will then be prompted to begin to link your PayPal/Venmo account or open an account.
4 & 5. The next screen will prompt you to enter your email address and enter next. If you have an existing account you wish to link, then enter the email address associated with it.
6. Either create an account by providing a password or login with your existing PayPal account. Click Next button.
7. Continue through the process until completed. During the account set up process, PayPal will send you an email to verify your email address. Be sure to complete this step or your PayPal account will be frozen, and you will not be able to accept donations through PayPal.
Once completed, PayPal will be listed in your Payment Methods.
Now you have the option of using PayPal/Venmo for your Campaigns. For more about Payment Methods in Campaigns, go here: https://support.clickandpledge.com/s/article/connect-campaigns--payment-forms#Payment_Methods
Venmo Considerations
There may be instances when Venmo does not show as a payment option. These are two conditions we have identified:
- Venmo is structured for one-time transactions. If a donor chooses to make a recurring gift, or Payment Scheduling is turned on to select the payment date, then Venmo will be removed from the donation form.
- For iPhone/iPad users, Venmo is only compatible with Apple's Safari browser on iOS.
PayPal Service Error
If you see the error message "PayPal Service Error" when either the PayPal or Venmo button is selected on your donation form, you will need to contact PayPal to resolve the issue. PayPal may freeze your account if they need additional information concerning your transactions or account. PayPal does not alert Click & Pledge if there is an issue.
One common issue for the error is that the email address for the PayPal primary contact was not confirmed. When your account with PayPal is set up, for verification an email is sent to you. If the email PayPal sends is not confirmed, then PayPal will freeze your account. You will need to contact PayPal to resolve.

Below is an image of the error.
We recommend you monitor your donation forms with PayPal frequently by selecting the PayPal and Venmo buttons on your donation form to ensure they are working as expected.
Since this is an issue with PayPal, you will need to work with them to resolve it.
Here are PayPal's Customer Support options: https://www.paypal.com/us/smarthelp/contact-us
You may also find the issue within your PayPal customer portal. Login to your PayPal account. Scroll down to
Notifications and find the messages that have Red Flags. The Red Flag messages should detail your issue and help you resolve the problem. If not, reach out to PayPal for assistance.

Custom Payments
Custom payments are available for organizations wishing to track payments that do not require bank processing, for example cash or physical check payments, using the Virtual Terminal . Adding the custom payment option allows these other methods of payment to be selected during the transaction process.
