Overview
Backup & Restore does more than protect your data — it is the easiest way to copy your complete Swiper1 setup from one phone or tablet to another. Use it to quickly configure additional devices without having to set each one up manually. You can replicate the Swiper1's app settings, store, or both.
A few items to note as you get started:
- The backup is a backup to the cloud, which minimizes local storage
- There is one backup per Swiper1 user
- If you share your backup using QR codes, it can shared within your Click & Pledge account or externally with other Click & Pledge accounts
- If you share backup using email, the backup can only be shared to other users of your Click & Pledge account
Navigation
To get there: Menu (≡) → Backup & Restore
Back Up Your Settings
- Tap Backup.
- Select what to back up:
- Store & Settings — backs up everything (recommended)
- Store only — backs up your Swiper1 Store items and categories only
- Settings only — backs up your app settings only
- Tap Backup.
Your backup is stored in the cloud. The screen will show the date of your last backup.
Note: Only one backup is stored per user ID and account. Each new backup replaces the previous one.
Restore a Backup
Use Restore to copy settings or store from a backup to your current device.
- Tap Restore.
- Select what to restore — Store & Settings, Store only, or Settings only.
- Select where to restore from:
| Option | When to use |
|---|---|
| My backup | Restoring your own most recent backup to the same or a new device |
| Other user's backup (same account) | Copying settings from a colleague on the same Click & Pledge account — enter their user's email address to access their backup |
| QR-Code | Restoring from a QR code shared by another user — useful for copying settings across different Click & Pledge accounts or within the same Click & Pledge account |
- Follow the prompts — enter the backup user's email address if required.
- Select whether to Add to existing store or Replace existing store.
- Tap Continue.
You will receive a confirmation message when the restore is complete.
Share Your Backup via QR Code
The QR code displayed on the Backup & Restore screen is a link to your backup. Anyone who scans it can restore your settings to their device — even if they are on a different Click & Pledge account.
This is especially useful for organizations with multiple Click & Pledge accounts that need identical Swiper1 settings across all of them.
- Tap Share Backup to share the QR code via email, message, or other apps.
- The recipient scans the QR code using the Restore → QR-Code option on their device.
Best Practices to Set Up Additional Swiper1 Devices for an Event
Quick Replication
If your organization needs multiple phones or tablets running Swiper1 at an event, use the Backup & Restore feature so you do not need to configure each Swiper1 app from scratch. One person from your organization sets up the Swiper1 app completely on their device, then backs it up, then shares the backup to all the others.
Individual Click & Pledge Users for each Swiper1 app
⚠️ Important: Make sure every device - tablet or phone- using the Swiper1 app has been logged into by a unique Click & Pledge user. Do not have multiple staff log in using the same Click & Pledge account user! This can cause the system to crash. Instead, set up individual user accounts for each staff member.
Setting up individual users within Click & Pledge is simple. You do this within your CONNECT account. You only need their name and email address.
When creating the user account, permissions can be limited to Swiper1 only — so staff cannot access any other part of your Click & Pledge account. Access can also be granted for a specific date range, such as the day of the event only. This keeps your organization's data protected while giving staff everything they need to process payments.
Tip: Set up user accounts before the event. On the day, each staff member logs in with their own email address and your organization's account number.
To set up user accounts, see CONNECT: Create and Manage Users. Swiper1-only access is configured in the individual user's profile.
