The public site URL refers to the URL of the Sites as set up in the Salesforce App Setup section of Salesforce. To set up the site follow the steps listed below:
- Login to Salesforce
- Click on Setup
- Click on App Setup
- Click on Develop
- Click on Sites
If a site is not set up already, click the New button and create a site. It is highly recommended that you use your website’s domain as the prefix to the force.com domain. Be careful with the name since once setup it cannot be changed, deleted or updated.
The URL shown as the Site URL is what needs to be added to any of the Click & Pledge applications requiring the “Public site URL”.
Important notes:
- Only one public site URL is needed for all Click & Pledge applications. A single URL may be used for any number of events, invoices, etc. since the URL associated with any invoice or event is dynamically built with parameters that will uniquely identify the selected event or invoice.
- The sites URL is on a first come first serve basis. It is highly recommended that all organizations set up their domain name before it is used by another organization with possibly similar name. For example any organization may claim a URL such as RedCross or UnitedWay even though they may be a small chapter or nonprofit under their umbrella.
