- Turn on the Swiper1-BT device by holding power button down for ~ 1 second.
- On your phone in Swiper1 app tap the “Menu” icon.
- Tap “Device Manager”
- Select Swiper1-Bluetooth device. Refer to image below.
- Under Available Bluetooth Devices, any active Swiper1 Bluetooth devices will show. Tap the Swiper1 name and then the word “Connected” will appear. If you do not see any devices appear, make sure you have enabled Bluetooth on your phone.
- When ready to do transactions, switch from Test to Production mode: Tap "Menu" icon > Merchant Profile. Tap the “Production” checkbox and “Save Changes.”
NOTE: Once you have changed the Device type, the Swiper1 will automatically connect as soon as you get to the payment screen (as long as it is turned on). You do not need to tap the Swiper1 button; just swipe the card or insert it into the EMV slot if it has a chip.
Accepting Payments
Swipe your credit card in the card slot or insert it into the EMV slot if it has a chip.
Be sure to:
- Have the card oriented correctly (see pictures below)
- When swiping the card, keep the card parallel with the bottom of the Swiper1.
- Pull at a consistent speed.
- Do not swipe the card too fast.
- If the data is read, the card information will fill the fields. If not, try swiping the other direction. Right-to-left vs. left-to-right, or remove and reinsert the card if using EMV.
- If the “Re_Swipe” and “Manual entry” buttons appear and you choose “Re_Swipe” follow the instructions under “WAIT…” again.
- If you would rather do “Manual entry” then enter the credit card information in each field.
- Enter the email address of the patron so they can receive a receipt via email. This must always be entered manually if you don’t integrate with Salesforce.
- Press “Next”
- Press “OK” to process the transaction.
NOTE: if the Swiper1 app is in “Test” mode, your card will decline and not be charged and no receipt will be sent.
We recommend you do a couple test swipes in “Test” mode. Then switch to production and do a small ($0.50) transaction as a final test.
In “Production” mode, you should receive a message that says that your transaction was successful.
